Carlo Ancelotti ha difeso la prestazione del Real Madrid nella loro vittoria per 2-1 Laliga su Rayo Vallecano domenica, indicando le lotte di un certo numero di squadre che bilanciano il calcio della Champions League con i compiti domestici.
Kylian Mbappé e Vinícius Júnior hanno messo il Madrid 2-0 nel primo tempo al Santiago Bernabéu, prima che Pedro Díaz tirasse indietro un goal per Rayo per garantire un secondo tempo nervoso.
Madrid ha deluso dopo la pausa, ma ha preso tutti e tre i punti per andare a livello di Barcellona – che hanno una partita in mano – in cima al tavolo di Laliga.
“La sensazione è buona, perché l’obiettivo è prendere punti”, ha insistito Ancelotti nella sua conferenza stampa post-partita. “Abbiamo avuto un ottimo primo tempo … quando arrivi a 70 o 75 minuti a 2-1, devi fare una cosa, che è difendere bene.
“Molte squadre hanno giocato in Champions League e hanno sofferto [this weekend]. È stato difficile per l’Inter contro Monza [in Serie A]. Liverpool contro Southampton [in the Premier League]. [Bayer] Leverkusen ha perso, Bayern [Munich] perduto [in the Bundesliga. It’s difficult to prepare for these games, against teams like Rayo which play with intensity. I’ll repeat myself: the first half was very good.”
Madrid had been on a poor run of form in LaLiga, with one win in five games going into the Rayo match.
However their title hopes were buoyed by Atletico Madrid slipping to a 2-1 defeat at Getafe earlier on Sunday.
Ancelotti praised the performances of Mbappé and Vinícius, who had received some criticism for their showings against Atletico in their Champions League last 16 first leg in midweek.
“Vinicius and Mbappé scored two spectacular goals,” Ancelotti said. “They did well, and then when I thought we had to defend, I took the forwards off. It’s not a problem, they played fewer minutes and that will be good for the [second leg] il mercoledì.”
Ancelotti ha detto che il portiere Thibaut Courtois – che non ha fatto la squadra contro Rayo – ha avuto un “piccolo problema” ma dovrebbe essere adatto alla Champions League, aggiungendo che anche il difensore Antonio Rüdiger, che ha l’influenza, dovrebbe essere disponibile.
